Core i7-8700K vs Core i7-11700F benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-11700F performs better than the Core i7-8700K. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-8700K in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-11700F has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Core i7-8700K has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-8700K. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-8700K has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-11700F. Despite this, the Core i7-11700F has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-11700F outputs less heat than Core i7-8700K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i7-11700F has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-8700K. The Core i7-11700F also has slightly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-8700K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
