Core i7-8700 vs Ryzen 5 5560U specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 5560U is faster than the Core i7-8700. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-8700 in all gaming tests too.
Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-8700 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 5560U. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 5560U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-8700. Despite this, the Core i7-8700 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 5560U.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-8700 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
