Core i7-8650U vs Xeon W3580 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-8650U is faster than the Xeon W3580. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon W3580 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Xeon W3580 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-8650U. Despite this, the Core i7-8650U has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-8650U CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon W3580 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches and L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Core i7-8650U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
