Core i7-8550U vs N95 benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-8550U is faster than the N95. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the N95 in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Core i7-8550U has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-8550U has a slightly higher clock speed than the N95. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the N95 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-8550U. Despite this, the Core i7-8550U has slightly more L3 cache compared to the N95.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-8550U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
