Core i7-8550U vs Core i3-9100F comparison
In our benchmarks, the Core i3-9100F beats the Core i7-8550U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-8550U in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i7-8550U has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-9100F has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-8550U. Also, the Core i3-9100F has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-8550U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i3-9100F CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Core i7-8550U also has slightly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i7-8550U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
