Core i7-8086K vs Ryzen 5 8500G specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 8500G is faster than the Core i7-8086K. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-8086K in all gaming tests too.

Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-8086K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 8500G. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. The Ryzen 5 8500G outputs less heat than Core i7-8086K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 8500G has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-8086K. The Ryzen 5 8500G also has slightly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-8086K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
