Core i7-7700T vs Core i5-8300H benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Core i5-8300H beats the Core i7-7700T in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i7-7700T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-7700T has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-8300H. Despite this, the Core i5-8300H has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-7700T CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-8300H CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Core i5-8300H also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-7700T has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
