Core i7-7700K vs Xeon E3-1270 v6 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-7700K beats the Xeon E3-1270 v6 in overall performance. Despite this, the Xeon E3-1270 v6 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-7700K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E3-1270 v6. Also, the Core i7-7700K has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Xeon E3-1270 v6 outputs less heat than Core i7-7700K thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches and L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-7700K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
