Core i7-7700 vs Xeon E3-1535M v6 benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Core i7-7700 beats the Xeon E3-1535M v6 in overall performance. Despite this, the Xeon E3-1535M v6 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-7700 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E3-1535M v6. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. The Xeon E3-1535M v6 outputs less heat than Core i7-7700 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches and L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-7700 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
