Core i7-7700 vs FX-6300 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-7700 is faster than the FX-6300. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-6300 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-7700 has slightly more cores with 4 cores compared to the FX-6300 that has 3 cores. It also has more threads than the FX-6300. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-7700 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the FX-6300. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the FX-6300 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-7700. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Core i7-7700 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
