Core i7-7700 vs EPYC 7543P benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the EPYC 7543P is faster than the Core i7-7700. Despite this, the Core i7-7700 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the EPYC 7543P has significantly more cores with 32 cores whereas the Core i7-7700 has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-7700. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-7700 has a slightly higher clock speed than the EPYC 7543P. Also, the Core i7-7700 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-7700 CPU outputs less heat than a EPYC 7543P CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the EPYC 7543P has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-7700. The EPYC 7543P also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-7700 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
