Core i7-6850K vs Ryzen 5 7235HS benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-6850K performs better than the Ryzen 5 7235HS. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 7235HS has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-6850K has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 5 7235HS. Indeed, the Core i7-6850K has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Ryzen 5 7235HS. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 7235HS. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-6850K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 7235HS. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 7235HS has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 5 7235HS outputs less heat than Core i7-6850K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 7235HS has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-6850K. Despite this, the Core i7-6850K has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 7235HS.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-6850K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
