Core i7-6850K vs Core i7-1255U benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-1255U beats the Core i7-6850K in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-6850K in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-1255U has significantly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Core i7-6850K has 6 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i7-6850K has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-1255U. Despite this, the Core i7-1255U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-1255U outputs less heat than Core i7-6850K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i7-1255U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-6850K. Despite this, the Core i7-6850K has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i7-1255U.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i7-6850K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
