Core i7-6700T vs Xeon X5680 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Xeon X5680 beats the Core i7-6700T in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i7-6700T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon X5680 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i7-6700T has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-6700T. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon X5680 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-6700T. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. A Core i7-6700T CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon X5680 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i7-6700T has more L2 cache than the Xeon X5680. The Core i7-6700T also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-6700T has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
