Core i7-5600U vs Celeron J6412 comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Celeron J6412 is faster than the Core i7-5600U. Despite this, the Core i7-5600U has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Celeron J6412 has significantly more cores than the Core i7-5600U. Indeed, the Celeron J6412 has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Core i7-5600U. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-5600U has a slightly higher clock speed than the Celeron J6412. The Celeron J6412 outputs less heat than Core i7-5600U thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Celeron J6412 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-5600U. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-5600U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
