Core i7-5500U vs N100 comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the N100 performs better than the Core i7-5500U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-5500U in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the N100 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Core i7-5500U that has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-5500U has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the N100. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the N100 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-5500U. The N100 also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-5500U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
