Core i7-5500U vs Core i5-1335U benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-1335U is faster than the Core i7-5500U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-5500U in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-1335U has significantly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Core i7-5500U has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-5500U. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-5500U has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-1335U. Despite this, the Core i5-1335U has a significantly higher turbo speed. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-1335U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-5500U. The Core i5-1335U also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-5500U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
