Core i7-4930MX vs Xeon E3-1220 v5 comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-4930MX is faster than the Xeon E3-1220 v5. Despite this, the Xeon E3-1220 v5 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i7-4930MX has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-4930MX has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E3-1220 v5. Also, the Core i7-4930MX has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-4930MX CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E3-1220 v5 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache and L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Core i7-4930MX has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
