Core i7-4910MQ vs Xeon E5-620 benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Core i7-4910MQ beats the Xeon E5-620 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-620 in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-4910MQ has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-620. Also, the Core i7-4910MQ has a significantly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-4910MQ CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-620 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Core i7-4910MQ also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-4910MQ has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
