Core i7-4770S vs Xeon E5-1620 v2 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-4770S is faster than the Xeon E5-1620 v2. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-1620 v2 in all gaming tests too.
Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon E5-1620 v2 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-4770S. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. A Core i7-4770S CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-1620 v2 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-4770S has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
