Core i7-4770K vs Xeon E5-2687W benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2687W beats the Core i7-4770K in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-4770K in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2687W has significantly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Core i7-4770K that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-4770K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-4770K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2687W. Also, the Core i7-4770K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-4770K CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2687W CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2687W has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-4770K. The Xeon E5-2687W also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-4770K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
