Core i7-4770K vs Xeon E3-1505M v6 benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Xeon E3-1505M v6 beats the Core i7-4770K in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-4770K in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-4770K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E3-1505M v6. Despite this, the Xeon E3-1505M v6 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Xeon E3-1505M v6 outputs less heat than Core i7-4770K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache and L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-4770K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
