Core i7-4770 vs Xeon X5650 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-4770 performs better than the Xeon X5650. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon X5650 in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Xeon X5650 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i7-4770 has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-4770. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-4770 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon X5650. Also, the Core i7-4770 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-4770 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon X5650 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Xeon X5650 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-4770. The Xeon X5650 also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-4770 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
