Core i7-3770 vs Xeon E5-1620 v3 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon E5-1620 v3 is faster than the Core i7-3770. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-3770 in all gaming tests too.
Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Xeon E5-1620 v3 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-3770. Despite this, the Core i7-3770 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-3770 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-1620 v3 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-3770 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
