In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Xeon E5-2420 has significantly more cores than the Core i7-2760QM. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2420 has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Core i7-2760QM. It also has more threads than the Core i7-2760QM. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i7-2760QM has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2420. Also, the Core i7-2760QM has a significantly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-2760QM CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2420 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
