Core i7-2600K vs Core 7 150U benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core 7 150U beats the Core i7-2600K in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i7-2600K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core 7 150U has significantly more cores than the Core i7-2600K. Indeed, the Core 7 150U has 10 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Core i7-2600K. It also has more threads than the Core i7-2600K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-2600K has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core 7 150U. Despite this, the Core 7 150U has a slightly higher turbo speed.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-2600K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
