Core i7-14700F vs Core i7-13790F benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-13790F performs better than the Core i7-14700F. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-14700F in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-14700F has slightly more cores with 20 cores compared to the Core i7-13790F that has 16 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-13790F. In terms of clock speed, the Core i7-14700F and Core i7-13790F are identical in this regard. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i7-14700F has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-13790F. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-14700F has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
