Core i7-12700T vs Xeon Gold 6126 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Xeon Gold 6126 beats the Core i7-12700T in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i7-12700T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Xeon Gold 6126 has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon Gold 6126 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-12700T. Despite this, the Core i7-12700T has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-12700T CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon Gold 6126 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Xeon Gold 6126 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-12700T. The Xeon Gold 6126 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-12700T has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
