Core i7-12700T vs Ryzen 7 5800XT specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-12700T performs better than the Ryzen 7 5800XT. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 5800XT in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-12700T has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 7 5800XT. Indeed, the Core i7-12700T has 12 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Ryzen 7 5800XT. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 5800XT. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 5800XT has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-12700T. Also, the Ryzen 7 5800XT has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-12700T CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 7 5800XT CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i7-12700T has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 7 5800XT. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 5800XT has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i7-12700T.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-12700T has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
