Core i7-12700T vs Ryzen 7 5700X3D benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-12700T beats the Ryzen 7 5700X3D in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 5700X3D in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-12700T has significantly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Ryzen 7 5700X3D that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 5700X3D. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 5700X3D has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-12700T. Despite this, the Core i7-12700T has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-12700T CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 7 5700X3D CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i7-12700T has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 7 5700X3D. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core i7-12700T.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-12700T has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
