Core i7-11700K vs Core 7 240H specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-11700K beats the Core 7 240H in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core 7 240H in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core 7 240H has slightly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Core i7-11700K that has 8 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-11700K has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core 7 240H. Despite this, the Core 7 240H has a slightly higher turbo speed. In terms of cache, the Core 7 240H has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-11700K. The Core 7 240H also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-11700K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
