Core i7-11700 vs Core i9-9900KS specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Core i9-9900KS beats the Core i7-11700 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i7-11700 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i9-9900KS has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-11700. Also, the Core i9-9900KS has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-11700 CPU outputs less heat than a Core i9-9900KS CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i7-11700 has more L2 cache than the Core i9-9900KS. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-11700 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
