Core i7-11700 vs Core i5-13420H benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-11700 performs better than the Core i5-13420H. Despite this, the Core i5-13420H has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i7-11700 has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-11700 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-13420H. Also, the Core i7-11700 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-13420H has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-11700. Despite this, the Core i7-11700 has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-13420H.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-11700 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
