Core i7-10710U vs Core i3-1220P benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-10710U performs better than the Core i3-1220P. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i3-1220P in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i3-1220P has significantly more cores than the Core i7-10710U. Indeed, the Core i3-1220P has 10 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Core i7-10710U. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-1220P has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-10710U. Despite this, the Core i7-10710U has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-10710U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i3-1220P CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i3-1220P has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-10710U. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-10710U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
