Core i7-10700KF vs Core i5-12500H benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-10700KF beats the Core i5-12500H in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-12500H has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-12500H has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Core i7-10700KF has 8 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i7-10700KF has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-12500H. Also, the Core i7-10700KF has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-12500H outputs less heat than Core i7-10700KF thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i5-12500H has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-10700KF. The Core i5-12500H also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-10700KF has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
