Core i7-10610U vs Core i7-4790 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-10610U beats the Core i7-4790 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-4790 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-4790 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-10610U. Despite this, the Core i7-10610U has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-10610U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-4790 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache and L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Core i7-10610U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
