Core i5-9600KF vs Core i7-9700K specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Core i7-9700K beats the Core i5-9600KF in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-9600KF in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-9700K has slightly more cores than the Core i5-9600KF. Indeed, the Core i7-9700K has 8 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Core i5-9600KF. It also has more threads than the Core i5-9600KF. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-9600KF has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-9700K. Despite this, the Core i7-9700K has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i7-9700K has slightly more L2 cache than the Core i5-9600KF. The Core i7-9700K also has slightly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-9600KF has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
