Core i5-9600K vs Xeon E5-2630 v3 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2630 v3 beats the Core i5-9600K in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-9600K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2630 v3 has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Core i5-9600K that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-9600K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-9600K has a significantly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2630 v3. Also, the Core i5-9600K has a significantly higher turbo speed. The Xeon E5-2630 v3 outputs less heat than Core i5-9600K thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-9600K has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
