Core i5-9600K vs Ryzen 9 6900HS benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 9 6900HS beats the Core i5-9600K in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-9600K in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 9 6900HS has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Core i5-9600K has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-9600K. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i5-9600K has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 9 6900HS. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 6900HS has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 9 6900HS outputs less heat than Core i5-9600K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 9 6900HS has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-9600K. The Ryzen 9 6900HS also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-9600K has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
