Core i5-9600 vs Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U performs better than the Core i5-9600. Despite this, the Core i5-9600 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-9600 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U. Also, the Core i5-9600 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U outputs less heat than Core i5-9600 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-9600. The Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U also has significantly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-9600 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
