Core i5-9400T vs Core i7-7700T specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-9400T is faster than the Core i7-7700T. Despite this, the Core i7-7700T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-9400T has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i7-7700T has 4 cores. Despite this, the Core i7-7700T has more threads than the Core i5-9400T. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i7-7700T has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-9400T. Also, the Core i7-7700T has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i5-9400T has more L2 cache than the Core i7-7700T. The Core i5-9400T also has slightly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-9400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
