Core i5-9400T vs Core i7-6700T benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-9400T is faster than the Core i7-6700T. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-6700T in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-9400T has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i7-6700T has 4 cores. Despite this, the Core i7-6700T has more threads than the Core i5-9400T. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-6700T has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-9400T. Also, the Core i7-6700T has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i5-9400T has more L2 cache than the Core i7-6700T. The Core i5-9400T also has slightly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-9400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
