Core i5-9400T vs Core i5-8300H comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-8300H is faster than the Core i5-9400T. Despite this, the Core i5-9400T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-9400T has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i5-8300H has 4 cores. Despite this, the Core i5-8300H has more threads than the Core i5-9400T. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-8300H has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-9400T. Also, the Core i5-8300H has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-9400T CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-8300H CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-9400T has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-8300H. Despite this, the Core i5-8300H has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-9400T.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-9400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
