Core i5-9400F vs Xeon W3520 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-9400F performs better than the Xeon W3520. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon W3520 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-9400F has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Xeon W3520 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Xeon W3520. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-9400F has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon W3520. Also, the Core i5-9400F has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-9400F CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon W3520 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i5-9400F has more L2 cache than the Xeon W3520. The Core i5-9400F also has slightly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-9400F has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
