Core i5-9400F vs Xeon E5-2690 v2 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2690 v2 beats the Core i5-9400F in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-9400F has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2690 v2 has significantly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Core i5-9400F has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-9400F. Our comparison shows that the Xeon E5-2690 v2 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-9400F. Despite this, the Core i5-9400F has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-9400F CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2690 v2 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-9400F has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
