Core i5-9400F vs Xeon E5-2680 v2 comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E5-2680 v2 performs better than the Core i5-9400F. Despite this, the Core i5-9400F has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2680 v2 has significantly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Core i5-9400F has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-9400F. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-9400F has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2680 v2. Also, the Core i5-9400F has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-9400F CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2680 v2 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-9400F has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
