Core i5-9400F vs Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 beats the Core i5-9400F in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-9400F in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 has significantly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Core i5-9400F that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-9400F. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-9400F has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Despite this, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 outputs less heat than Core i5-9400F thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-9400F. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-9400F has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
