Core i5-9400F vs Core i9-14900K comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i9-14900K is faster than the Core i5-9400F. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-9400F in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i9-14900K has significantly more cores with 24 cores whereas the Core i5-9400F has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-9400F. Our comparison shows that the Core i9-14900K has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-9400F. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i9-14900K has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-9400F. The Core i9-14900K also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-9400F has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
