Core i5-9400F vs Core i7-9700F specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-9700F is faster than the Core i5-9400F. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-9400F in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-9700F has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Core i5-9400F that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-9400F. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-9700F has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-9400F. Also, the Core i7-9700F has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i7-9700F has more L2 cache than the Core i5-9400F. The Core i7-9700F also has slightly more L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-9400F has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
