In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U beats the Core i5-9400 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-9400 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Core i5-9400 has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-9400. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-9400 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U has a slightly higher turbo speed.
